MOOSEY — Privacy Policy

Moosey (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a personal finance and budget tracking application designed

for Canadian users. Your privacy is fundamental to how we build Moosey. This Privacy Policy

explains what information Moosey accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Our Privacy Commitment

Moosey is built on a privacy-first philosophy. We believe your financial data is deeply personal

and should remain under your complete control. Moosey is designed so that:

• Your data stays on your device by default

• No personal data is collected, tracked, or transmitted

• No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are included

• You have full control over your data at all times

2. Data Storage & Architecture

On-Device Storage

All financial data you enter — including transactions, budgets, goals, debts, recurring entries, accounts, and categories — is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework.

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to use iCloud sync.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud backup in the app, your data is synced through your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit framework. This data is governed by Apple’s iCloud privacy terms. We do not operate any servers that receive, process, or store this data.

No External Servers

Moosey does not transmit your financial data to any third-party servers, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external services of any kind.

3. Information We Access

Moosey may request access to the following device capabilities. Each requires your explicit permission via iOS system prompts:

• Camera — Scan receipts for quick expense entry

• Photo Library — Attach receipt images and goal background photos

• Microphone — Voice-based expense entry via AI Voice Input

• Speech Recognition — Convert spoken words into expense entries

• Face ID / Touch ID — Protect access to your financial data with biometric lock

• Notifications — Recurring bill reminders, daily tracking reminders, and budget alerts

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security.

4. Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data.

• No analytics or telemetry is sent from the app

• No advertising identifiers (IDFA) are used

• No user behaviour tracking or profiling occurs

• No data is shared with or sold to third parties

• No cookies or web tracking technologies are used

As declared in our App Store Privacy Nutrition Label: Moosey collects no data linked to your identity.

5. Third-Party Services

Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchases)

Used to process Moosey Premium subscription purchases. All purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple’s App Store infrastructure. We do not receive, process, or store your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID credentials.

Apple iCloud / CloudKit

Used only if you explicitly enable cloud backup. Data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple’s privacy terms and encryption standards.

No Other Third-Party SDKs

Moosey does not include any third-party analytics frameworks (e.g., Firebase, Mixpanel), advertising SDKs, crash reporting tools (e.g., Crashlytics), or social media integrations.

6. Bank Connection Feature

Moosey includes a bank connection feature that allows you to manually associate accounts with Canadian financial institutions. This feature is strictly for organizational purposes:

• Does NOT connect to any bank’s servers or APIs

• Does NOT access your bank login credentials or passwords

• Does NOT retrieve real-time account balances or transaction data

• Does NOT transmit any banking information externally

All bank association data is stored locally on your device and used solely for organizing your manually-entered accounts by institution.

7. Security Measures

Moosey implements multiple layers of security to protect your financial data:

• Biometric Lock — Face ID and passcode lock prevent unauthorized access to the app

• Keychain Storage — Your app passcode (if set) is stored securely in the iOS Keychain,

Apple’s encrypted credential storage system

• iOS Data Protection — All on-device data benefits from iOS’s built-in file-level encryption, which encrypts your data when your device is locked

• iCloud Encryption — If cloud sync is enabled, data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple’s iCloud infrastructure

8. Data Retention & Deletion

You maintain full control over your data at all times. You can delete data through the following methods:

• Individual items — Swipe to delete any transaction, budget, goal, debt, or account

• Full reset — Use Settings > Reset All Data to permanently erase all app data from your device

• App deletion — Removing the app from your device deletes all locally stored data

• iCloud data — If you used iCloud sync, manage your iCloud storage through iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage

When data is deleted, it is permanently removed. There is no recovery option after deletion, and no copies are retained on any external server.

9. Children’s Privacy

Moosey does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app does not include:

• Age-gated content

• Social features or user-to-user communication

• External links to social media or web content

• In-app advertising

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. International Users

Moosey is designed primarily for Canadian users. Tax calculations, provincial settings, and financial institution listings are Canadian-specific. However, the app’s privacy protections apply equally to all users regardless of location. Since all data is stored on-device, no cross-border data transfers occur unless you enable iCloud sync, in which case Apple’s data residency policies apply.

11. Your Rights

Because Moosey stores all data locally on your device and does not collect any personal information, you inherently maintain:

• Right to Access — All your data is visible within the app at all times

• Right to Portability — You can export your data using the app’s backup feature

• Right to Deletion — You can delete any or all data at any time

• Right to Restrict Processing — No processing occurs on external servers

• Right to Object — No data profiling or automated decision-making occurs

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated “Effective Date” at the top of this document. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notification. Continued use of Moosey after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
